Now you might wonder what Walmart’s policy is regarding returning your car battery to them. It’s not hard to believe that I did the research so you don’t have! Below is my list.
Walmart accepts returns or exchanges of car batteries within 90-days after the purchase, provided that it is not defective, unused, and doesn’t have a suitable battery mount. For a cash refund or exchange, customer should bring the original package and receipt.

Walmart Offers Money for Old Car Batteries
Walmart does not give you money in return for old car batteries; however, when you buy a battery, it usually comes with a core charge (similar to a bottle buyback scheme).
People are encouraged to exchange their old batteries for a newer one by using the core charge.
If you take your old battery back to Walmart and buy a new one, you won’t be charged the core charge again and could save between $5 and $20 on the purchase of your new battery.
How do I claim my Walmart Car Battery Guarantee?
For your battery warranty to be valid, visit Walmart Auto Care Centers. Then go to the customer support desk.
Walmart will verify your date of purchase and send you a new battery free of charge, as long you still have your warranty.
Walmart: Will Walmart Replace My Car Battery?
Walmart does not install batteries outside of their Walmart Auto Care Centers. Walmart will charge you no cost to replace your battery if it is bought at one of their stores.
There is an additional $10 charge for installation if you don’t buy your battery from Walmart.
How can I return household batteries to Walmart
Household batteries fall under the same return policy that most Walmart products do. If the battery is in its original packaging, it can be returned within one year of purchase.
If you have a receipt, you will receive a refund using the same method you initially paid for the batteries.
If the purchase is less than $25 you won’t be able to get the receipt. If that is the case, you will be given a refund in cash.
