Walmart employs almost 1.6 million associates in the US alone. So, to ensure the smooth-running of operations, the company has policies in place to deter the late arrival or absence of staff.

  • Let’s see, there are many things you can learn about Walmart’s late policy. This is what I discovered after doing some research.
  • Walmart Late Policy In 2022
  • Walmart’s late policy is based on a points system. Walmart associates who arrive 15- to 2-hours late for their shift will have 1/2 point deducted. If an associate is late by over half of the scheduled shift, they receive 1 point, and 2 points if they do not show up. In total, Walmart associates have a total of 5 points before they face termination
  • Wondering exactly how the Walmart point system operates and how it affects Walmart associates? This is all I found!

What Is The Walmart Point System?

Walmart points are part of its attendance policy, which aims not to incentivize associates for tardiness and unexpected absences.

The 2019 update brought the total number of points that an employee could earn from nine to five. Associates who have received more than five points risk being fired.

One point will be awarded to associates who do not attend their assigned shifts on time.

Additionaly, those who work late might be eligible for half the point. However, unexpected absences may lead to a maximum of 3 points.

Walmart: How to Report an Absence/Lateness

Associates will be required to visit the OneWalmart site to report an absence, or run late.

Or, alternatively, they can call the Walmart Associate Information Line on 1-800-775-5944 or call the local Walmart store to let the store manager on duty that you are running late.

Walmart: How many absences are allowed?

As per the Walmart point system explained above, associates will receive a maximum of three points for unexpected absences during holiday shifts.

One point will be given to those who are absent during regular trading periods. Walmart considers an absence to be working less than 50% of a schedule shift.

Depending on what type of absence they have, associates may be granted up to five days before being fired.

Or, they could be absent from one holiday shift and two standard shifts. You can also terminate them if you are unintentionally absent for two holiday shifts.

    Walmart Rewards Good Attendance

Walmart’s updated attendance policy rewards associates who are punctual or excellent at attendance. This is to encourage consistency and dependability.

Both full-time Walmart employees as well as part-time Walmart staff are eligible for quarterly increased cash bonus payments.

Employees with perfect attendance records are eligible for an extra 25% bonus in their quarterly bonuses. Those with one or two points may also still be eligible for an increased bonus.

Walmart offers quarterly bonuses based upon a variety of factors. Nearly $800 million was earned in hourly bonuses during 2019, which is the same year as attendance bonuses.

Walmart: What is the best way to get in?

Walmart employees must clock in using the GTA Time Clock app regardless of how late you arrive at work.

The GTA Time Clock users must sign in using OneWalmart. You will then be asked for a password and unique user ID in order to prove your identity.

They can then click on “Clock In,” to start their shift. Or, if they are already clocked in, they can select the “Meal Start,” “Meal End,” and “Clock Out” options as appropriate.

  • Conclusion: Walmart Late Policy
  • Walmart has a late policy that is based upon a points system. Associate that are late for shifts, or who miss the entire shift completely can receive three points. They can only receive five points within six months before being terminated from their position.

This policy is designed to encourage employees not being late. Walmart will offer increased quarterly bonus to employees that work on time.
